Unit 3 Flashcards
What is the order of reactivity?
Potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, carbon, zinc, iron, tin, lead, hydrogen, copper, silver, gold, platinum.
What dose oxidised mean?
When a metal chemically bonds with oxygen.
What is a null hypothesis?
A null hypothesis is a type of hypothesis used in statistics that proposes that no statistical significance exists in a set of given observations. The null hypothesis attempts to show that no variation exists between variables or that a single variable is no different than its mean.
What is an alternative hypothesis?
An alternative hypothesis is one in which a difference (or an effect) between two or more variables is anticipated by the researchers; that is, the observed pattern of the data is not due to a chance occurrence. The concept of the alternative hypothesis is a central part of formal hypothesis testing.
Whats qualitive information?
qualitative refers to the appearance or value of something, including examples such as colour observed, or whether bubbles are produced.
What is quantative data?
A
quantitative data refers to the numerical measurements made, including examples such as volume and time measured
What is an independent variable?
A variable you’re able to change during an investigation.
What is an dependent variable?
the variable you are investigating and measure during an investigation
What is a controlled variable?
the variable you are investigating and measure during an investigation
What is an ammeter?
measures the current that flows through a component in a circuit
what is a voltmeter?
measures voltage across a component in a circuit
What is a resisitor?
component that limits the flow of electrons (current) in a circuit
What is a variable resistor?
used to change the current in a circuit
what is a diode?
allows current to flow in only one direction
what is power?
the rate of doing work.
the amount of energy consumed per unit of time
