Evil and suffering caused by the actions of human beings.
Natural evil
Evil which is not directly u see the control of human beings.

earthquake, volcanoes, tsunamis
3 examples of moral evil
stealing, murder, lying.
name two theories about the origin of evil and suffering.
Satan-
•Fallen angel called Lucifer
•rejected god and his reign
•tempted jesus 3 times whilst he was in the wilderness (lent)
•the reason Judas betrayed Jesus
•tempts adam and eve as a snake
•satan is eventually destroyed in revelation.
Adam and eves misuse of free will:
•god created humans to him but love cannot be forced so free will was necessary.
•people misuse this freewill
•C.S. Lewis referred to a world where humans didn’t have free will as being in a world of nothing more than robots.
The purpose of evil and suffering
•A test of faith
•To strengthen faith and achieve great things
•A punishment for sin
•to allow freewill
Decribe the test of faith purpose theory
Many times in the bible God tests our faith.
Suffering may be a test to see who’s faith in God pursues and who’s doesn’t.
Explain the to strength faith and achieve great things theory for purpose of evil
•one persons personal suffering may be for a greater purpose to save a lot more people.
•Apostle Paul writes in the new testament-suffering produces perseverance
•there are many examples of how humans faith in God strengthens in the face of evil.
Describe a punishment for sin theory for evil and suffering
•there are many examples in the Bible where God punishes send, for example, when Adam and Eve are trapped out of the garden of Eden, after being tempted.
Explain the to allow free will theory of suffering and evil.
All moral evil can be put down to the fact that we have free will, which means some people choose to do the wrong thing.
Both sides of the argument (natural suffering)
• human beings cannot be held responsible for natural suffering
• because the world is in perfect timing as natural order a pattern. Therefore, there is no designer and no God.
• PS have responded to this arguing about what humans, coal, natural disasters, disasters or natural evil are, in fact, not evil themselves. Many of these occurrences bring benefits to human beings. These events are in either good or evil there simply part of the natural world. They’re only considered Eva because of the potential suffering that I may cause human beings, but in many cases, humans play some cells in danger, for example, living in earthquake, zones, or in floodplains.
Augustine’s theodicy
Augustine’s theodicy-evil exist because God give humans free, will humans, abuses, freewheel when they commit evil acts. How humans use free will determine is whether or not they will get to Heaven, or Hell timer for Augustines theodicy has been referred to as a soul deciding theodicy, God let’s humans, be rescued from sin, but they must accept the rescuer, this involves a conscious decision.
•
Irenaeus theodicy
he argued that evil exist, because God wants humans to respond positively to suffering, so that humans can become more like God uses an example from the Bible that humans are made in the image of God by humans are unfinished. I need to become more like God therefore this has been referred to as the soul making theodicy.
Cons of the augustinian theodicy
This can only explain moral what about the reality of natural suffering should god not take responsibility for natural suffering beyond the control of humans?
