Metes and Bounds and Reference to a Recorded Plat are both used in NC, however, the reference to a recorded plat is MUCH more simple, easier to use, and worry free. It is also more common in urban areas because those areas have been subdivided more often. The government rectangular system is NOT used in NC. I have no idea what the Torrens system is and neither should you.Â
