is the assembly and fellowship of those who are gathered from the world and united in christ our lord through the spirit and word
Kingdom of God
The place and people of which God is king
Sojourner
Is someone who settled down temporarily in a place other than there homeland
Local church
Is one unified body of believers who regularly meet and practice the marks of a church
Universal church-
The church is one and universal
Mission of the church
The special responsibility God has given to the church - sometimes as Father, sometimes as Son, sometimes as Holy Spirit
Congregational
is the form of church government placing authority in the local congregation
Non Government
No leadership structures in these churches. Church membership is not required
Episcopal
Meaning overseer or bishop; places authority in the bishop
Presbyterian
meaning elder; places authority in the elders of each local church
Regulative principle
worship must only include what God commands in scripture
Worship
A reverential, joyful, and grateful response by God’s people to God’s character and works
Normative principle
as long as God doesn’t prohibit a certain practice, then it can be used in the worship of the church
Baptism
application of water to an individual to symbolize the cleansing work of the spirit to those who place their faith in christ for salvation
Lord’s Supper
the gathered church sharing of the bread and wine to remember and meditate on the blessing provided by christ’s crucifiction
