Q

Explain Distribution

A

Distribution p is called
■ probability if the random variable is disrete,
■ density if the random variable is continuous.
1. Joint distribution:
□ p(x,y): density/probability of observing the pair of input x and target y
2. Marginal distributions:
□ p(x): density/probability of observing input x
□ p(y): density/probability of observing target y
3. Conditional distributions:
□ p(x|y): density/probability of input x for a given target y
□ p(y|x): density/probability of target y for a given input x
