Advice and Consent Power
Allows senators to recommend or reject major presidential appointees

Congress’s authority to manage government spending and raise revenue through taxes

- Requires the President to inform congress within 48 hours of committing U.S. forces to combat
- Requires Congress to vote within 60 days
Cloture Rule
Allows the Senate to end a filibuster and move forward with voting on a bill or policy
