Australian ballot
ballot -> candidates and proposals, only given out at the polling place and marked in secret
Bandwagon effect
ppl do stuff only because other ppl doing it, regardless of personal beliefs
Conservative
traditional values, want status quo, if change necessary want come slow
Context effect
idea that one’s environment influence one’s perception of et reaction to stimuli
Demographics
relating to structure of population; particular sector of popul.
Disenfranchisement
a state of having been deprived of a right (eg voting right)
Equality of opportunity
all ppl should treated equally, no artificial barriers or prejudice, except when can be justified
Equality of results
contrast to = opport., ppl have equal wealth et material, as opposed to beginnings
Exit polls
poll of ppl leaving voting place, asking how they voted
15th Amendment
fed et state govt no allowed deny voting to citiz based on “race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”
