What is an Ultrasound?
Procedure during pregnancy where a wand is rubbed across the belly and a video image is produced by sound waves. Can also detect defects in organ’s, gender and due date.
What is an amniocentesis?
Used as a diagnostic tool to test for genetic disorders. The test draws fluid from the amniotic sac by inserting a needle into the stomach
What is a Chronic Villus Sampling?
Tests the placenta of the woman by inserting the tube into her vagina and removing.
What does premature mean? Weeks?
- The baby is born before full term (before 37 weeks)
- Below 37 weeks
What is a miscarriage? How common are they?
- It is a spontaneous abortion
