the 3 parts of exodus + explanation
1.The CALL: God called Moses to lead the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt. This part of the story is also called The Liberation because it ends with Moses leading the people across the Red Sea
2.The COVENANT: The Hebrews (Jews) had to obey the 10 Commandments. In return, God promised to watch over and guide them.
3.The TEST: God let the Hebrews wander 40 years in the desert to see if they would be faithful in keeping the 10 Commandments
how do we have true freedom through the 10 comandments?
The Ten Commandments are NOT intended to restrict our freedom but to provide freedom and peace to the community.
These Laws have three purposes:
1.Laws protect us
2.Laws guide us
3.Laws unite us
define oppression
-Prolonged cruel or unjust treatment.
-Mental pressure or distress.
-People or person in power uses it in a way that is not fair
how were the israelites being oppressed?
they were being treated as slaveys, being forced to bulid building and citys and had to weigh on the egptions. they were also forced to kill there first- born sons so that they would get “strong”.
give an example of a group that are being oppressed today

definition of vocation
the calling to a particular porfession or occupation and the calling to gods service or the christian life.
what mission did god give to moses?
how gave him the job to save and free the isrealites from the egyptions
how did moses react when receiving the call from god?what personal shortcomings was he worried about?
his first reaction was worthlessness, he felt unworthy for such a important task, he was worried of rejection from the pharaoh and that he wouldn’t believe him or wouldn’t listen.
what are the 10 plagues?
water turning to blood, frogs, lice, flies, livestock killing, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and the killing of firstborn children.
how did god guide moses?
how gave him the gifts so that he could convice the people and the pharaoh about god. he also parted the see for him and the isrealites, and constantly reasuring him.
my vocation
i think my vocation is to help animals and people.
the 2 types of sin
Mortal Sin
*A complete break in one’s relationship with God (For example, murder)
*We make a conscious decision to turn completely away from God’s offer of love.
venial sin
*Does not completely separate us from God but represents a ‘cooling’ in the relationship. Examples might include a failure to be honest, or crude behaviour.
define social sin + example
Describes human-made structures when they offend human dignity by causing people to suffer oppression, exploitation, or marginalization
ex. sexism
how are sin and freedom related?
when you sin you have consequses, intenaly and socialy. everytime you sin you become farther and farther away from God and when you sin your freedom decreases internaly (relationship with God) and socialy (with your parents) it then becomes a cycle.
define “to atone”, how does God show mercy to us and others?
atone is to make amends or reparation ( to be given mercy), he shows mercy by forgiving us whenever we do something wrong, and always being there for us no matter what.
