What is internal recruitment?

What is external recruitment?

Name two advantages of internal recruitment
The vacancy can be filled quickly
the employee knows the organisation which saves induction training costs and time
Name two disadvantages of external recruitment
Applicants are drawn from a very limited pool so the organsation may not hire the best person for the job
Promoting one employee will consequaentially create a vacancy in their old post
Name two advantages of external recruitment
fresh new ideas and skills are brought into the organisation
It avoids creating a further vacancy in the organisation
Name two disadvantages of external recruitment
Candidates do not know the organisation so induction training will have to be carried out, taking up production time and costing money
such a potentital vast pool of candidates can mean it takes longer to choose suitable applicants for a interview
What is an application form?
An application form is a document that is produced by the employer. It contains questions that applicants will answer in order to provide details of their skills, experience and qualities.
What is an interview?
Interviews are designed to compare the applicants responses to questions against a set criteria.
What are the different types of interviews?
one to one - usually with manager
successive- one after another
panel - in front of a number of people
Name two advantages of an interview
Interviews find out how an applicant reacts under pressure
interviews give an indication of applicant’s personality and character
Name two disadvantages of an interview
some applicants can train specifically for interviews and say what the interviewers want to hear but may not be the best person for the job
Interviews can be highly stressful. This mans an organisation may miss out on a quaility employees who underperform in the pressure of an interview.
