What is equality?
A person is respected as an individual treated fairly, given the same opportunities regardless of differences, treated accordingly to needs, regardless their circumstances
What is meant by Diversity?
Differences taken into consideration and values the things that make a person unique. It is important that diversity is valued and respected.

What does direct discrimination mean?
Discriminating on purpose, intentionally

What is meant by stereotyping?
Generalisations about a group of people where we give a defined set of characteristics to this group based on their apprentice or our assumptions
What is meant by prejudice?
Is often based on misinformation, not factual, and having a negative attitude or dislike against an individual.
What is meant by labelling?
Attaching something negative to an individual because they are part of a group of people.
What is meant by bullying?
Intentionally and constantly hurting a individual
What is neglect?
A situation where someone is not given enough care or attention
What is institutional abuse?
It includes neglect/ poor care and practice within a specific setting. It consist of attending to care setting needs instead of the patient
What is physical abuse?
Intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person through bodily contact
What is sexual abuse?
Forcing or enticing someone to take part in sexual activities without consent e.g rape
What is financial abuse?
When a person has control over the victims access to finance which stops the victims control of life.
What is exploitation?
Involves unfairly manipulating someone for profit or personal gain, often when the abuser pretends to be their friend.
What is meant by discrimination?
When a person/ group is treated unfairly or unequally based on their personal characteristics.
What is meant by emotional abuse?
Involves continual emotional mistreatment of a child.

a law that consolidates and strengths the protection against discrimination based on the protected characteristics.
what is the data protection act 1998?
regulates the processing of personal data and protects individual privacy

Careful and thorough identification of potential hazards, so rules can be put in place to minimise the risk of abuse/accidents

Provides a set of guidelines of the standards staff should follow when dealing with confidential information and personal data
