Countries today: Sub-Saharan Africa
Stage 3
Birthrate: falling
- Less farmers (less need for kids)
- Expensive to own a child
- Larger role for women (no time for babies)
Death rate: remains low
Population change: slows down
Countries today: Mexico, India, The Philippines
Stage 4
Birthrate: low
Death rate: low
Population change: very low (if any)
Countries today: USA, UK, China
Stage 5
Birthrate: lower than death rate
Death rate: low
Population change: low decline
Countries today: Japan (they need immigrants)
