Capital Punishment
The death penalty; a punishment used when the most serious crimes are committed
Conscience
An innate moral sense that guides actions and responses
Duty
Something you do because it is the accepted pattern of behaviour
Human Rights
Something a person is entitled to because they are human
Justice
Where everyone has equal provisions and opportunity
Offenders
Criminals; those who have committed an offence and done something wrong
Personal Conviction
Something a person feels strongly or believes in
Punishment
A penalty given to someone for a crime or wrong they have done
Reform
The idea of change, usually of a person’s life or outlook
Reparation
The idea that something is paid to compensate for what has happened
Retribution
Revenge, to gain satisfaction that the person who has committed a crime has also suffered
Sacred Texts
Holy books or sacred writings of a religion
Vindication
Justice; the idea that the law has been upheld
Authority
Rights or powers over others
