Holistic health belief that focuses on the body’s state of unbalance through the concepts of qi (“chee”), yin and yang, five elements, and meridians.

Qi – life energy from birth; also gained from air, food, water

Yin and yang – opposing forces in body to maintain equilibrium of the Qi

Five Elements – wood, fire, earth, metal, water

Meridians – energy pathways of body that move and store qi
