What is a relative key?
A major and minor scale that share the same key signature.
What are the four factors that figured bass tell us?
- Root
- Quality
- Notes in the chord (structure)
- Purpose
What is a related key?
Keys that are one sharp or one flat away from the key you are in.
What is a parallel key?
A major and minor key that start on the same note but have different key signatures.
What is an interval?
The distance between two notes.
What is a harmony?
Two or more different notes sounding at the same time.
What purpose does the root of a chord serve?
The root of a chord serves as the foundation/strongest most secure sound.
What purpose does the third of a chord serve?
The third of a chord provides the color of the chord.
What purpose does the fifth of a chord serve?
The fifth of the chord fills out the chord and is balanced with the root.
