Folk ballad
A concise, anonymous narrative poem intended to be sung
Ballad

The attitude of a work toward its subject.
Tone
A four-line stanza, one of the most common stanza forms in English poetry.
Quatrain
A narrative poem created by a poet in imitation of the old anonymous folk ballad. Usually is more elaborate and complex; the poet may retain only some of the devices and conventions of the older verse narrative.
Literary Ballad
An object that stands for something else as well as for itself.

A group of stories unified by a central situation
