What does a physician do?
They make a general diagnoses on a client’s condition
What does aphysiatrist do?
They are a doctor specialized in rehabilitation medicine
What does a physical therapist provide services for?
Restore function, prevent further injury, reduce pain
What services does an occupational therapist provide?
Helps the client improve and perfect day-to-day living skills, and compensate permanent loss of function
What services does a recreational therapist provide?
Help a client socially, through bonding with other people and partaking in activities with them. They also help to reduce depression and anxiety. Help integrate them, and provide normalization
What services does a speech-language pathologist provide?
Helps a client regain speaking ability, as well as swallowing, cognitive ability, and communication
What role do assistants and aides provide?
They support various team members who work in specialized therapeutic fields
What is licensing?
The idea that ‘colleges’ will keep up with therapists, and make sure their licenses are in order and are up to snuff
