Unit 2 Flashcards
What is resistivity
Resistance of 1 unit length and 1unit2
Cross sectional area object
Strength of a field
How close the lines are
electrical field by plate
Is constant across the field
E=v/d e=f/q
Capacitors
Electrical component that store charge.are plates that when put in a circuit have an eltrocal filed across them, thus it collects charge
One farad
Capacaitance of one conductor which is at a potential of 1v when it carries charge of 1 columb(1/2QV)
Elastic deformation
Stretch it and returns to original shape after load is removed
Plastic deformation
Stretched and does not go back to original shape after load is removed
Crystal lattic
Arranged neatly
Why does Plastic deformation occur
Occurs because the atoms slide over eachother ,which does not cause breaking
Dislocation
Extra plane of atoms that allows e sliding
How is dislocation helpful
Allows the materials to occur easier. So less force required for plastic deformation
Ductile
To plasticallt deform without breaking
Brittleness
Break with no plastic deformation
Toughness
Ability to take sudden loads by plastically deforming
Stiffness resilience/elasticity
The ratio of force to extension
