Proper posture
Lean forward
Let arms hang loosely from shoulder
Elbows slightly higher than keys
Bench must face keyboards keys

Curved finger
When fingers are curved, each finger is the same length
Curved fingers bring the thumb into the correct playing position
Keys respond instantly
Curved fingers make an arch possible for crossing over and under the thumb.
Note names
ABCDRFG
Treble clef lines EGBF, Spaces- faces
Bass clef lines GBDFA spaces, ACEG
Tied notes
Two pitches connected by a curved line- these connect pitches are the same pitch/note!
Played on the piano by combining.
Slurred notes
Two pitches connected by a curved line-these lines connected pitches are different pitches/notes played on the piano by connecting the notes with as little separation as possible.
3/4 signature
Three beats in a measure (top number)/Quarter note is worth.
Pick up notes/anacrusis
Note/notes that occur before the first full measure. The last measure of the pieces is shortened by that number of beats in the pick-up measure!
Broken chords
Chords where each note is played individually (one at a time)
Block chords
Chords where each note is played simultaneously (at the same time)
Crescendo
< Gradually get louder
