Types of revenue streams
Advertising, crowdfunding, franchising, corporate finance, sponsorship.
Crowdfunding
Raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount, typically via the internet.
Franchising
A person or group of peoplethe rightmarketa productor serviceusing the trademarkor trade name of anotherbusiness
Corporate finance
The willingness of a business to invest money for a project with the belief there will be a positive outcome.
Factors that need to be considered during the planning of a media product
Financial constraints, legal and ethical issues, revenue streams, time constraints, personnel involved, location, facilities and resources.
Financial contraints (costs)
Staffing, premises, location, legal costs, transport, resources e.g camera.
Revenue streams
How the media product/production will raise the money to finance the project
Personnel involved
Tethering the right staff- appropriate number, right skills+expierence
Is also a pre-production skill
Relevant facilities, locations and resources
Studios, props, sets, lighting, microphones, etc.
Freedom of information act
The public have the right to access information that is held by public sector organisations e.g. in the news industry
Intellectual property act
If you have produced a script, image, article then it belongs to you and someone would need your permission to use it, if it produced whilst you have worked for a company that company owns it.
Data protection act
If you collect data on individuals during the creation of a media product then it means you must keep this data safe and secure and up to date for an appropriate length of time
Copyright, designs and patents act
If you have a piece of music, sound, image, film then you have the rights to control how it is used by other people.
Libel
You could face a lawsuit if a ,Edie product you create is published that contains untrue written information about someone or something that damages their reputation
Slander
This refers to spoken statements that you publish could be faced with a lawsuit if this is untrue or damages their reputation
BBFC
The BritishBoard film classification who regulate media content and classify films that are distributed in the UK
ISPO
The independent Press Standards Organisations regulate the content that is in print format such as newspapers and magazines
ASA
The advertising standards agency regulate all broadcast and non-broadcast content across the UK
Ofcom
The office of communications regulate all broadcasted content across the UK TV channels
Censorship
This is when content is considered harmful by regulators and is then cut or edited from media products for the benefit of the consumer

Demographics
The breakdown of target audience into different segments e.g. Age, gender, psychographics, geo demographics, socio-economic, Ethnicity, sexual orientation, lifestyle
Tender
A client will publish an advertises how that they need a media product tobe created and will request bids from production for them
Commissioned
A client will hire a separate independent company to create the Media product for them
Interpreting client brief.
An interpretation of the client brief means to take the requirements and generate your own creative ideas to help meet the brief.
Implicit brief
