How did the founders decide on what political principles to include in the government to prevent tyranny and safe keep liberties?
they chose principles that would prevent tyranny from the power of the majority or the power of one- the bible and natural law were used to gain understanding or human nature
What is part of human nature?
The bad - greed, ambition, instant gratification, passion =impulse
the good- intellect, communication, self-sacrifice, moderation, Reason=sustained consideration
Who applied the best of the political theory?
John Locke- Natural rights, believed people’s right to over throw leaders
Montesquieu- separation of powers, checks and balances
What is the error in morality?
slavery remained without being directly stated in the constitution
