This Act was created by the Federal government to end discrimination in regard to fair housing
Civil Rights Act of 1866
This law was signed by President Johnson in 1968 and was amended by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and the Fair Housing Amendment Act of 1988 and prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability and familial status
Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968
In 1955 Congress passed this act which repealed the requirement that housing intended for those age 55 or older have “significant facilities and services” designed for seniors
Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA)
The Fair Housing Act is administered by this department

Redlining- referring to literally drawing a line around particular areas
