PROS: all sizes available
CONS: higher costs for better quality tracing paper

COPIER PAPER

A

Drawing paper
PROS: inexpensive general purpose/white or other colours/smooth surface/mostly matt or sometimes glossy/printed easily
CONS: not strong/lacks quality
USES: printing photos/general office printing such as documents/emails/assignments/booklets

CARTRIDGE PAPER

A

Drawing paper - off white paper usually with a slightly textured surface
PROS: accepts most drawing media
CONS: costs more than copier paper
USES: sketching/printing/rendering in pencil/ink/pastel

A

Commercial printing paper
PROS: high quality paper/bright colour holding/durable surface
CONS: may be limiting if printing more durable or sophisticated items
USES: letterheads/flyers/writing paper/typing paper

COATED PAPER

A

Commercial printing paper
PROS: restricts amount of ink absorbed into the paper/how it bleeds into the paper/good for sharp, complex images
CONS: limited colour range/may be hard to read for text heavy items
USES: spirit based marker rendering/photographic printing/high quality graphics

DUPLEX CARD - a coated paper with the exterior made water resistant for a waxy, glossy appearance
USES: juice or milk cartons/disposable cups

MOUNTING BOARD

A

Board - made from compressed fine cotton fibres
PROS: rigid/good quality/colour availability
CONS: expensive/doesn’t bend easily
USES: presenting artwork/picture mounting/modelling

A

Board - carton board outer layers and a corrugated middle layer
PROS: ability to provide protection against impact/strength to weight to ratio
CONS: bends easily/not water resistant

A

Board - two outer layers of card with a foam middle core
PROS: good impact resistance/water resistant/available in a range of thickness
CONS: prone to cracking
USES: mood board backing/presentation boards and modelling

A

Board - multiple layers of pulp with the top layer usually bleached or pigmented
PROS: good thickness for printing/can be creased and embossed/lightweight/high stiffness/cheap
CONS: not strong
USES: packaging products - food or pharmaceutics

FOIL LINED BOARD

A

Board - foil applied to either one or both sides
PROS: water resistant and/or heat insulating layer/foil can be removed before recycling the paper pulp
CONS: expensive
