Unit 1.1 Cell Structure Flashcards
What are the structures found in animal cells?
Cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, ribosomes, nucleus
What are the structures found in plant cells?
Cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, mitochondria, ribosomes, nucleus, vacuole
What structures are found in fungal cells?
Cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuole, nucleus
What structures are found in bacteria cells?
Cytoplasm, DNA loop (chromosomes), Cell wall, cell membrane
What is the mitochondria?
The sight of respiration for plant and animal cells
What are chloroplasts?
The sight of photosynthesis in plant cells
What are ribosomes?
Bead-shaped organelles which are the sight of protein synthesis
What is the cytoplasm?
The sight of chemical reactions in the cell
What does the nucleus do?
The nucleus contains the DNA and controls the cells
What is the vacuole?
A large sap-filled space found in plant cells
What are Plasmids?
Small circular pieces of DNA in bacteria cells
Cell membranes?
Are selectively permeable (controls what comes in and out of the cell)
Cell walls?
Cell walls are fully permeable, they give the cell support and shape and are made of cellulose in plant cells and different in bacteria and fungi cells.
