Choropleth Map
A map that uses differences in shading or coloring to indicate statistical ranges
Cartogram
A map that uses size to illustrate a statistical value
Dot Map
A thematic map in which a dot represents some frequency of the mapped variable
Greenwich Mean Time
The time in that time zone encompassing the Prime Meridian, or 0 degrees longitude
International Date Line
180 degrees lingitude. The line of longitude that marks where each new day begins, centered on the 180th meridian
Graduated Symbol
Used to represent features using different marker sizes
Isoline
A thematic map with lines that connect points of equal value
Toponym
The name given to a place on Earth
Model
Simplified abstraction of reality, structured to clarify casual relationships
