Ambiguity
Lack of clarity
The ambiguity in his statement left me wondering what he really meant.
Anadiplosis:
Repetition of a word or phrase at the end of a course, repeated at the next

Anaphora:
repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of a clause or sentence.
MLK’s famous speech uses anaphora with the phrase “I have a dream” to emphasize his vision for a better future.
anecdote:
A short, personal story of an event.
She shared a humorous anecdote about her childhood to keep the party going
Antecedent:
A word or phrase that a pronoun refers to.
In the sentence, “John lost his wallet,” “John” is the antecedent of the pronoun “his.”
Aphorism:
A concise and insightful statement.
“Actions speak louder than words” is a well-known aphorism that emphasizes the importance of deeds over promises.
Colloquialism:
Informal language or words and phrases commonly used in casual conversation but not in formal writing.
“Wanna” is a colloquialism for “want to” often used in everyday speech.
Conceit:
Excessive pride in oneself or one’s abilities
His conceit knew no bounds, as he constantly boasted about his achievements.
Connotation:
The emotion a word carries beyond its literal meaning.
The word “home” has a warm and comforting connotation for many people.
Denotation:
The literal, dictionary definition of a word.
The denotation of the word “book” is a physical object with pages containing text.
Skeptical:
Having doubts or reservations about something; showing disbelief.
She was skeptical about the claims of the new miracle diet.
Spurious
: False or not genuine; counterfeit.
The antique dealer discovered that the supposedly valuable painting was actually a spurious copy.
Strident:
Loud, harsh, and grating in sound or manner.
The strident sound of the alarm clock shook her awake in the morning.
Sycophant
A person who flatters and sucks up to others in order to gain benefits.
He surrounded himself with sycophants who constantly praised his every decision.
Trade:
The exchange of goods or services between people or entities.
