A single settlement by a parent country
Jamestown
Had many owners that owned indentured servants
Puritans
members of a group that wanted to eliminate all traces of roman catholic ritual and traditions in the church of England
Indentured Servant
person who has contracted to work in exchange for shelter, travel expenses, and sustenance
Columbian Exchange
The exchange Columbus’s first voyage which he traded plants, animals, and diseases between the western and eastern hemisphere

The passage where many slaves from Africa were sent to North America by boat.
Plantation
Tobacco
A plant that many Europeans smokes, snorted, and chewed to achieve a high.
Slavery
The taking of humans to work for you; typically harvesting crops.
Triangular Trade
The trade between US, Europe, and Africa
Europe: guns, rum, and other goods to Africa
Africa: slaves to North America (this was known as the Middle Passage)
North America: sugar, tobacco, and cotton, to Europe.
Subsistence Farming
A farm for not to sell but to use for you or your family.
