Spatial
connection between where things are located in the space on the Earth’ surface

Projection
When a curved surface is depicted on a flat surface
Scale
a ratio of the length or distance on the map versus the length or distance on the Earth or ground
Formal region
are characterized by homogeneity in one or a number of different characteristics
Functional region
which is sometimes called a nodal region or focal point to which other places in the region are connected by some activity
Longitude
up and down (meridians)
Latitude
side to side (parralels)
Meridians
half circles that connect the north and south poles (longitude)
Prime meridian
located at 0 degrees
Equator
imaginary line around the Earth equally distant from each other, divinding the Earth into poles
Parallels
circles that encompass the Earth to the equator (latitude) north - south
International date line
along 180 degrees longitude, date/ day changes when crossing it; not directly on 180
Distortion
the misinterpretation of shape, area, distance, or direction between geographic features when compared to their true measurements on Earth
