Unit 1 :The structure of the ecosystems Flashcards
What are the environmental factors?
Biotic and Abiotic factors
What are biotic factors?
They are living beings in an ecosystem
What are abiotic factors?
They are the physical and chemical conditions that affect the biotic factors.
What are the types of biotic factors?
Intraspecific and Interspecific relationships
What is an intERspecific relationship?
Relationship between different species
What is an intRAspecific relationship?
Relationship between the same species
What are abiotic factors?
- Sunlight
- Temperature
- Water
What is a limiting factor?
Anything that decreases the population’s size.
What is the Tolerance range curve?
Graphical representation of species reaction to the limiting factor.
What is an adaptation?
How species change to live better in their environment.
What are the types of adaptations?
- Water scarcity
- Temperature changes
- Sunlight
- Lack of oxygen
- Salt concentration variety
- Lack of food
- Change of environment
What are endemic species?
Species that live in specific conditions in specific areas
that are at risk of extinction
What is a population?
Group of organisms of the same species occupying the same space.
What are the types of intraspecific relationships?
- Colonies: asexual reproduction
- Families
- Caste systems: hierarchic
- Social: herds or flocks
- competitive
- by passive transport: grouped by atmospheric agents
What is a community?
Group of different populations that live in the same area.
