What is the definition of law?
Law is the legal, moral, or social achievement granted to all people as humans. Law is not just legislation. It is the set of rules that a society feels obliged to obey. Law includes all the rules made by society to make everyday life easier, because many rules are not written laws. Canadian law therefore includes rules created by governments, called “Legislation”, and rules created by judges, which are called “common laws”. (They are respected and enforced in Canada)

What is a right?
A moral or legal entitlement to have or obtain something or to act in a certain way.
What is a rule?
Orders that must be followed for certain things. Ie: school, sports or association games.
What would be a few laws in a restaurant?
FDA
Health and safety
Labor laws
What is a court?
Where they decide if you have broken a law.
What is a lawyer?
Someone who will represent you and your arguments.
What is the responsibility of a jury?
Made up of Canadian citizens who listen to your case and decide if you are guilty or not.
What is the duty of a judge?
Decides your punishment if found guilty.
The need / importance of law:
The law helps us to be organized in life.
It establishes limits in the main rules to follow.
It provides stability and security.
It tells us how to act and how others should behave.
The Lord tells us what not to do.
It restricts violence in our society, protects our property and tries to maintain peace/public order.
