28
Q

CDC guildlines BMI

A

18.5- 24.9 normal
25-29.9 overweight
>30 obese

29
Q

ABSI

A

a body shape index

metric for assessing the health implications of a given human body height, mass, and waist circumference

30
Q

subcutaneous fat

A

jiggly fat visible under skin,

31
Q

Skin fold protocols

A

all measure should be made on the right side of the body with subject standing up right
caliper should be placed directly on the skin surface, 1 cm away from the thumb and finger, perpendicular to the skin fold an halfway between the crest and base of the fold
pinch should be maintained while reading caliper
wait 1-2 s to read caliper
take duplicate measures at each site and retest if duplicate measurements are not within 1-2 mm
rotate through measurements sites or allow time for skin to regain normal texture and thickness

32
Q

Skin fold administration errors

A

taking measures on left side of body
not placing caliper halway between the crest and base of skinfold
not maintaing pinch during measurement
waiting longer than 2 s to take measurement
not letting skin return to normal texture and thickness
taking skinfold measure at the wrong spot
using the wrong fold orientation

33
Q

Waist circumference protocols

A

all measurement should be made with a flexible, yet inelastic tape measure
the tape should be placed on the skin surface without compressing the subcutaneous adipose tissue
if a gulick type spring loaded tape measure in used, the handle should be extended to the same marking with each trial
take duplicate measures at each site and retest if duplicate measurements are not within 5 mm
rotate through measurements sites or allow time for skin to regain normal texture

34
Q

Waist circumference administration error

A

using a tape measure that is not flexible, yet inelastic
not placing the tape measure directly on the skin surface
compressing adipose tissue during measurement
not allowing skin to regain normal texture
taking the waist circumference down by the hips not at the anatomical waist

35
Q

BMI calculation

A

weight/height^2
weight in kg
height in m

36
Q

Body density from skinfold

A

use generalized skin fold equation to get bd then put into BD to BC equation

37
Q

Target weight calculation

A

tw=LBM/(1-tw)
