True North vs Magnetic North
the angle between true north and magnetic north is called Magnetic Declination.
what is latitude
latitude measures north and south from the equator, it determines our climate. it is measured in angles.
what is longitude?
longitude measures east and west from the prime meridian to the international date line. it determines our time. it is measured in degrees.
Physical and Human Geography
the earths physical geography are things that come naturally, human geography are things that human made or that are related to people such as cities.
what are small scale maps?
small scale maps are maps that show little information.
Map Projections
- Mercator Projection - gives true compass bearings between points. greatly distorts the size of land size masses.
- Equal Area Projection - shows the correct size of countries in relation to one another. country shapes are stretched.
- Winkle Triple Projection - provides best balance between sizes, distance, and Direction. compromise between all types of distortions.
