Unit 1 Statistics and Experiments Flashcards
1
Q
What are the experiment types?
A
- Experiments
- Correlational research designs
- Quasi-experimental designs
- Case studies
- Observational research designs
- Self-report
- Interviews
2
Q
What are the types of sampling?
A
Stratified, random, convenience.
3
Q
What are the research designs?
A
Repeated measures, Matched pairs, Independent groups.
4
Q
What are all the types of hypothesis?
A
- Null
- Alternative : directional or non-directional.
(directional= effect is specified e.g. increase)
5
Q
When do you use a t-test vs Man Whitney U and what are they used for?
A
- T-test is a sample size over 30
- tests whether it is statistically significant
- for t test, when p>a statistically significant
- for Man Whitney U, Ucrit is like alpha value and Ustat is like the p value
6
Q
What does the r value do?
A
R value shows whether there is a relationship and how strong it is.
1 and -1 are perfectly strong
7
Q
How do we find the dispersion?
A
Standard deviation and IQR
(takes the third quartile value and subtracts the first quartile value. )
