Literal Language
Saying exactly what you mean, without any comparisons, exaggerations, or understatements.
Figurative Language
The use of words in a way that deviates from the conventional order and meaning in order to convey a complicated meaning, colorful writing, clarity, or evocative comparison. It uses an ordinary sentence to refer to something without directly stating it.
Counterargument
An argument or set of reasons used to oppose an idea or theory developed in another argument.
Concession
A thing that is granted, especially in response to demands; a thing conceded.
Rebuttal
A refutation or contradiction.
Diction
The choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing.
Evidence
The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.
Appeals
The process in law by which a case is brought before a higher court to review the decision of a lower court.
Logical Fallacy
An argument that may sound convincing, but based on faulty logic and therefore invalid.
Consensus
A general agreement.
