Unit #1 Motion Flashcards
Independent Variable; and what axis is it on?
The variable that we change in the experiment; x-axis
Dependent Variable; and what axis is it on?
The thing that we measure in the experiment; y-axis
Speed Def:
The distance an object travels per unit of time
Speed equation
S= Distance÷Total Time (S=D/T)
Average speed equation
=Total distance ÷ Total time
Time equation
=Distance÷Speed (T=D/S)
Distance equation
= SpeedxTime (D=SxT)
Velocity Def:
Speed in a given direction; The speed and direction of an object in motion; The velocity of an object can change even if the speed stays constant
Acceleration Def:
The rate of change of velocity; Includes an increase in speed, decrease in speed, or change in direction of object.
Acceleration Equation
A= Final velocity-initial velocity÷Time (A= Vf-Vi/T)
