Q

What is a derived unit?

A

A unit that is made with a combination of other units. Using multiplication or division.

ex: miles/hour = speed of our cars, cm^3 = volume, g/cm^3 = density

Q

What is density?

A

The amount of mass in a certain volume.

d = m/v

ex: mass = kg, volume = dm^3 –> d = kg/dm^3

Q

What is the difference between a base and derived unit?

A

A derived unit is some combination of base units. Base units make up other units and are not made of a combination of other units. Base units are the simplest unit.
