What is Leadership?
the goal is to facilitate the achievement of common goals, providing direction, implementing plans and motivating people
Democratic Leadership?
Leaders provide opportunities for employees to contribute, makes them feel appreciated, increased team spirit and morale, makes them work harder, longer to make decision
Autocratic Leadership?
Leaders prefer my way or the highway, leader takes control of the situation, does not allow participation making decisions, can lead to discontentment and feeling undervalued and employees can rebel
Laissez-faire Leadership?
The Leader prefers getting the job done, they leaves employees alone to do their job, employee groups is mature, high levels of experience in the workforce, all employees need direction, guidance, motivation and feedback, need to believe their input is valid
Transformational Leadership?
The environment that the leader implements revolves around inspiring and empowering team members to achieve their full potential, inspiration; vision, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, effective in certain contexts, the shared vision can increase job satisfaction and higher engagement, creativity and innovation
Transactional Leadership?
Leaders focus on the exchange of rewards and punishments to motivate and manage employees, contingent rewards, management by exception, clarity of expectations, this is only effective in certain strict environments, maintains order but it can stifle creativity and innovations, employees can be motivated solely on rewards
