Unit 1 exam Flashcards
what is data?
A collection of facts
Information
Data + Context
Knowledge
Information + Goal
What is a computer?
A device that manipulates data; stored as a binary language
Parts of the computer
1) Hardware - Anything with a physical infrastructure
2) Software- Set instructions on how the hardware should preform certain tasks
What is a website?
A page that share the same domain name
3 components every computer consist of:
1) Cpu - Central Processing Unit: Involved in all the automatic and logical oppressions
2)RAM - Random Access Memory: Data is stored short- term; temporary stores information while system is active.
3) Storage - When data is permanently stored of the system
What is Database?
Systematic collection of date; makes date management easy in the form of tables
What is a server?
When the computer hosts the website and database
Explain the idea of client server architecture:
1) A computing model in which multiple components work together to communicate.
2) Hosts and delivers and manages resources and services to be consumed by the client.
3) Works when the client computer sends a resource or process request to the server over the network connection.
What is Cloud Computing ?
4 types of Clouds
1) Public
2) Private
3) Hybrid
4) Community
What is the benefit of cloud?
Using cloud makes it easier for companies and their owners to access & manage resources/ infractures globally
Describe a Public Cloud
*Open to all to access storage, resources, data etc
*No limit to the number of users
Lower cost and attainable via general people
*Less secured
Describe a Private Cloud
- Also known as the internal Cloud
*Used by organizations to manage their own data centers internally or by a 3rd party
- High level of security is their first priority
*Organizations have full control of the cloud
Describe a Hybrid Cloud
*A combination of Public + Private clouds
*Partially secured
*Helps the owner of companies to sell new services quickly
*Managing a hybrid cloud can get complex
Describe a Community Cloud
*Can only be used by a group of organizations that share information among each other
*Always cost effective because it is shared among many companies
*Not as secured as private cloud
Parts of the Service Model: (Offerings)
1) Software as a service; SAAS
2) Platform as a service; PASS
3) Infrastructure as a service; IAAS
Describe SAAS
Consume:
As individuals, we can only use it for the service the infrastructure provides.
*We don’t have the power to change, add or delete anything.
Describe PASS
Build on it:
As individuals, we have the ability to develop, run and edit the infracture given to us.
Responsible to write/run codes and report it to AWS,Google,Azure etc
Describe IASS
Migrate to it:
As individuals, have full control of code and infracture that run your application
Easy to step up and configure & resources are available as a service
