A business owned by many shareholders
Mercantilism
A policy where colonies must only trade and do business with their Mother country
Middle Passage
The forced voyage of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas
Navigation Acts
A series of laws passed by British Parliament that forced restrictions on colonial trade
Passive Resistance
Non-violent opposition to the ruling government or authority
Pilgrim
A person who journeys to a sacred place for religious reasons
Puritan
English Protestants who stick to religious principles especially against sensual enjoyment
Self- Government
Government of a country by its own people, especially after having been a colony
Theocracy
A government that is ran by religious leaders
Tolerance
Willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different than your own
Town Meetings
A meeting for townspeople to pass laws for the town
