The social and cultural conditions into which people are born, grow, live, work and age

- is a person’s position within society, relative to others.
- based on 3 factors (education, income and occupation)

- plays a crucial role to play in the lives of most young people, as it provides the environment in which young people are raised.
- main provider for many resources, such as shelter, food, clothing, emotional support and educational opportunities.

- relates to how people access, understand and use health information and services in ways that promote and maintain health and wellbeing.
