Factors that affect the decision to have children.

What is the most important factor?
finance because you have to pay for their; food, clothes, shelter.
When is the most expensive ages?
between 1 and 4 years.
Mothers
after menopause they won’t be able to get pregnant, the decline in fertility rapidly after 35 years.
Do men produce sperm all their life?
yes
Older parents.
more financially secure, more mature, have established a career, more likely to have less energy.
Younger parents
healthier and fitter, less likely to have a child with down syndrome, may recover from pregnancy faster, less likely to be financially secure.
Examples of genetic counselling
down syndrome, cystic fibrosis
pre conceptional health
diet, exercise, healthy weight, dangers of smoking/ alcohol and death.
primary needs
food, clothing, shelter, warmth, rest/sleep, love and nurture, socialisation/ custom and values.
