Born 1556, he set the basis for the orchestra and made the violin the principal instrument

Composed for the St. Marks Cathedral. Wrote the Sacred symphony (which included trombone!). First to make specific orchestration.
Who is Jean Baptist Lully?
(1632-1687) French composer/ conductor. Took virtuosic players and taught them how to play in an ensemble. wrote the Marche des Mousquetaires
Who is Handel?
(1685-1759) Most well known for the Water music and Royal Fireworks
What did Hadyn contribute to?
Trumpet solo repetoire (Hadyn trumpet concerto in E flat)
What did Mozart do?
He loved the clarinet after hearing if for the first time with the Manheim ensemblr. wrote 3 serenades. No 10 in B flat major is considered a cornerstone for chamber winds
What is Harmoniemusik?
a generic term applied to wind chamber music
Who is Franz Krommer?
(1759-1839) Wrote the Wind Sextet in E flat major. Although he isn’t super well known he wrote a good amount of wind chamber music
Who is William?
(of Prussia) chose to standardize the valve bugle rather than the key. Pereneit and company also pushed to make the valve trumpet the standard
Mendlesshon, who is he?
very well known for creating musicology, revered the past but always looked to the future.
Who is Berlioz?
Amazing composer. Wiped the slate clean for orchestration and wind orchestra size with his Treatise/symphonie fantastique. Wrote the symphonie funere et triomphale

(1777-1845) & (1777-1844) perfected the valve and led way to new brass techniques
Wilheim Wieprecht
(1802-1872) Introduced the tuba to band. similar to monteverdi with the violin
Theobald Boehm
(1793-1881) Introduced the new flute but more importanly a new key system for flutes and eventually clarient

(1789-1864) Started using the grenadilla wood
