A multi-tiered process by which a person moves from a basic, subperficial understanding to a deeper, more complex understanding

Claims and conclusions drawn from what we know and can assume; derived by reason.

Narration
a) THe aperation of linking a succession of events together into a meaningful sequence.
b) The process of finding meaning in our actions
Paragraph
A single unit in writing that uses multiple sentenses to clearly develop a single idea

Through the words we know.

Through the cultures and subcultures we are members of.
What are the Four Elements of Effective Narration?
- Choice of Detail
- Duration
- Clear Sense of Direction
- Sequential Development
Choice of Detail
- Use discretion in selecting the most appropriate details
- Pay attention to key and important details. For what they imply and represent.
- The details must help the reader understand as well as show them the athority of the writer.
- All details must be relevant.
Duration
- Handling of time must be very clear to the reader
- Consistency of verb tenses
- Should use effective “time-marker” transitions.
Clear Sense of Direction
- Must immediatly show “forward movement”
- The writer must immediatly move the story toward a purpose. this must be apparent to the reader.
- Avoid clogging the story with “extraneous” details and unnecessary digressions.
Sequential Development
- Action and narrative should be organized sequentially and consequentially.
- Intermingle a consistent time and action sequence.
- Each action should stem from a preceding action.
