Q

What is the benefit of engaging with Historical Theology?

A

This is the single most important antidote agains heresy. We put ourselves among many witnesses that have tried to understand this particular issue.

We escape the extremely individualistic approach that says, ”I have the knowledge. I have the whole and only true interpretation.”

The historical theology helps us see the difference between the human understanding and the divine doctrine. It gives us a critical lens. With the historical lens you notice that every single interpreter are a child of his/her time.
