Metaphor
A comparison of 2 things. Does not use like or as.
Ex:
Simile
A comparison of 2 things using “like” or “as”.
Ex: She was as fast as a cheetah!
Hyperbole
An exaggeration
Idiom
Expression that has a meaning other than its individual words.
Personification
Giving human qualities to an animal, object or idea
Sensory detail
Words and phrases that appeal to the senses
Repetition
A sound, word, phrase or line that is repeated for emphasis or unity.
Onomatopoeia
Use of words whose sounds echo their meanings.
Alliteration
Repetition of constant sounds at the beginning if words.
Her hair looks like a birds nest.
Simile
The sunflowers were a fence protecting the daisies.
Metaphor
BANG!

The wind whispers sweetly in my ear.
Personification
Candy is sweet smelling stuff.
Alliteration
