Claim
the answer or statement you are trying to prove in a written response or essay.
Premise
The reasoning you have for your answer or claim. Show your thinking and how you come to your answer.
Evidence
a direct quote that supports your claim and premise.
Justification
An explanation of how your evidence supports your claim and premise.
Character Trait
physical trait that describes the outside and personality trait is the inside.
Narrator Point of view
perspective of which a story is told.
First Person
character in the story that is telling their own story
Second Person
bring the reader into the story- they are talking to the reader directly.
Third Person Limited
limited view of the outside of the story and it has a limited understanding of the characters and events
Third Person Omniscient
they know all and see all
Character Perspective
how an individual character may view or think about an event or another character. It’s their understanding of what is happening.
Theme
a message, moral, or lesson the author wants you to know.
Clues to determine the Theme

what the story is mainly about or the big focus.
