What is discernment?
To perceive clearly, to seek to know the right from wrong; the process might look different for every person; must quiet the external voices and listen to God
What is the primary vocation?
The first sense that never changes and every is called to live with God, to fulfill a destiny
What is the secondary vocation?
The second sense, how people want to live out their lives
What is the tertiary Vocation?
The third sense, the immediate call God is calling us to do
What is interdependence?
A healthy balance of replying on oneself while still realizing our needs for others that helps us find our calling
Where does the word vocation come from?
Vocare (Latin), meaning “to call”

What does it mean to build a peaceable kingdom?
Leading mankind to reconciliation and peoples living together in harmony by loving thy neighbours
What does it mean to create a loving community?
Everyone must serve one another (no one is exempt) and everyone must share to build a loving community to become fully alive
What does it mean to nurture and challenge others to grow fully alive?
People living in accordance with God’s word to fulfill their true potential on this Earth
What are the two conditions for a marriage to be valid in the Catholic church?
Both parties must be free from internal and external pressures to give their consent and both parties must have knowledge of what the sacrament of knowledge really means to have the willingness and capacity to fulfill the promises of marriage
How would you best describe a common law marriage?
A verbal agreement, it is private and more impulsive and leas planned; unity and fidelity are based on the desires and whims of the couple; independent, no strings are attached
How would you best describe a civil marriage?
A legal contract, it is public to society and governed by marriage laws; unity and fidelity are based on the desires and whims of the couple; independent, except for legal ties that can be dissolved
How would you best describe a sacramental marriage?
Verbal, legal, and a covenant and contract that is public to society and the Christian community that is a sacred, permanent bond until death; unity and fidelity are based on the covenant of marriage, faith and the support of the faith community; personal freedom with a commitment to grow together and support each other’s individual growth
What are the four parts to marriage?
Unites a couple in faithful and mutual love, procreative in that it opens a couple to giving life, sacramental in that it is a way to respond to God’s call, and covenantal in that it calls the couple to be a sign of Christ’s love
