Unit 01 - Modeling Data and Business Processes Flashcards
What are the guidelines of modeling?
- Correctness
- Usage of allowed modeling primitives and combining them according to predefined rules (syntactic correctness)
- Model has to be formally correct and consistent with the real world (semantic correctness)
- Relevance
- Only interesting parts of the universe of discourse are reflected in the model
- Economic efficiency
- Trade off between benefits and costs
- Clarity
- Model must be understood by the model user (highly subjective)
- Comparability
- Consistent utilization of a set of guidelines in a modeling project (e.g., naming conventions)
- Systematic design
- Clear separation between models in different views
- Definition of mechanisms for the integration of views
What are the concepts of a modeling technique?

What are Data models?

Elements of ER Models - What is an entity?

Elements of ER Models - What is a relationship?

What is a process?

What are business processes?

What are a business process model, business process modeling and business process modeling language?

Example of a typical business process

What is a business process model and what are exemplary modeling techniques?
