Gov refused to nationalise the coal industry, leaving miners feeling betrayed.
What did mine owners do
Increased working hours and cut wages, this was due to high levels of unemployment meaning workers had no where else to go
When did the strike begin and what happens
1st April 1921- Miners strike, belief that it could escalate into a general strike as railway and transport workers supported the miners
What did DLG do
Split the ‘triple alliance’ forcing transport and railway workers to back down, miners strikes along and forced to accept wages 20% lower then 1914
