A
They started building in July 1865 outside of Omaha, NE

All available engineers in the west were busy in the Civil War so they had to wait a while till they could start building

A
Most of their workforce was made of Civil War veterans and Irish immigrants (Who where discriminated)

A
Workers were constantly attacked by Native Americans in the Great Plains, who understood that this railroad would help take and control their land
